Peoplebooks Search Error

In this video we’ll be discussing how to resolve the “No topic found, query syntax” error received after installing Peopebooks when trying to do a search as shown here.

The first thing we want to do is to copy psjniverity.dll file to another folder. From the directory you installed Peoplebooks, navigate to psol\webserv\peoplesoft\applications\peoplesoft\PSOL\WEB-INF\lib\winx86 and copy the dll file to the lib folder.

Next we’ll want to edit the style.vgw file which is found in the psol\verity\winx86\common\style\ folder. Navigate to the folder, right click on the style.vgw file, choose open with, and select notepad. Now comment out the “include vgwhttp.vgw” like so. Save and close the file.

We’ll now want to recreate the collections through psol manager. To get to the manager open Internet Explorer, and in the address field type http : / /(the web server name) : (the port which is 8080 by default) / PSOL / psolmanager.htm and hit the enter key. Click on Create Collections, then click on the “here” link to get to the password entry screen and then enter the password which is the word “password” by default. Leave “All” selected and checkmark “Regenerate booklist files”, and then click start. The creation can take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes.

After the creation completes, go ahead and restart the Tomcat service from Windows Services as shown here.

After the service is started go ahead and try the search function again.

As you can see, in this case, the issue is now resolved and I’m able to search without any problems.

If by chance you’re still getting the same issue, you can also try downgrading your Internet Explorer to version 6 if you’re using a later one. After the downgrade is complete, recreate collections and restart the tomcat services again. Some people have had success doing that but in my case it was not necessary.

I hope this video has proved to be helpful. If you have any questions please feel free to contact to me.

Thank you
