1. Upgrade Project Planning and Execution

Upgrades require a large volume of hours from the CNC technician and need to be scheduled in advance. Typically, upgrades are performed on site. All travel expenses are billable to the customer. However, all CNC hours and related CNC work are included as part of the monthly retainer. Very often, upgrades require developers to retrofit objects, as modifications are not often carried over from release to release. In addition, upgrades require the testing of the data as transformed via J.D. Edwards’ data conversion tool. The creation of an object‘s versions, proper configuration of the object’s versions and the actual testing of the object’s functionality is the responsibility of the customer unless otherwise specified under the scope of the agreement. Tier Support does not include this service. This additional coverage could be provided on a time and material hourly basis by Allari should the customer choose.

2. Updates

Tools or Application updates will usually be performed remotely but will require minor assistance from a customer’s resource onsite. This task will include placing the media in the CD drive of the proper server. Updates, like upgrades, do require user testing and on occasion will require the assistance of a developer if the Update includes any objects that have had previous development work performed upon them. A developer may be required to ensure that the code is in proper order once the installation of the update is complete. Allari will apply the update. The testing of the object is the responsibility of the customer’s super user.

3. Re-Installations

Occasionally, a customer might outgrow an enterprise or deployment server, thereby, requiring a rebuild of the software on the upgraded hardware or add new servers. The reinstallation and installation of the software on new hardware is covered under our support agreement.

4. Performance Tuning

Do you have problem with your system performance and are worried about your Go Live? Do your end-users complain about your OneWorld/EnterpriseOne system Performance? Having Allari perform an audit will assist with determining where system improvements are possible. A CNC Audit could be the solution to your existing problems.

5. Upgrade Assessment/Readiness

Structured assessment and planning in advance of an upgrade project provides important input and supports the eventual success of the upgrade. The Upgrade Assessment and Readiness is designed to lead your company through a set of well designed and integrated discovery and evaluation processes to help unlock additional value from your existing Oracle solutions. It will provide your company with a well-defined approach to guide the upcoming upgrade project.

6. Multi-foundation

It is a commonly accepted EnterpriseOne architecture that enables multiple instances of EnterpriseOne foundation code to run simultaneously on a single physical machine. This architecture works on all EnterpriseOne releases and platforms. You would typically do this when you are upgrading release of EnterpriseOne or testing a new Tools Release.

7. Package Builds and Deployment

Workstation & Server Package Builds and Deployment are necessary to enable code changes and additions made by the developers, as well as any ESUs and Updates that may have been applied to the system. Allari will perform Workstations Package Builds and Deployments based upon the completed Change Transfer Document provided by the customer. Server Code Deployment is needed to enable the execution of report and processing logic functions on the server. The customer is responsible for identifying any objects, versions, etc. which may need to be deployed to the server and for notifying Allari of such via the Change Transfer Document. Allari is responsible for deploying said changes to all servers designated.

8. Data Dictionary

Proper maintenance of the Data Dictionary files and associated tables is required to ensure system performance, stability, and functionality. Changes to these tables and the elements held within the tables can lead to unwanted and detrimental effects to applications and reports. Any changes or additions to these tables and the elements held within them will require explicit instructions from the customer and notification of Allari to ensure that no negative results occur. Allari will work diligently to ensure proper configuration and maintenance of these tables and objects, as well as backups in case anything unforeseen should occur. Allari will replicate these changes, as needed, to all J.D. Edwards’s related servers and workstations.

9. Monitoring

Our helpdesk operates 24/7, so we are there when your systems need us. We are also there to surface test your systems before the users arrive at the office, ensuring the system is available for them 24/7.

10. ESUs

Allari will apply ESUs remotely on an “as needed” and “as agreed” basis. It is most efficient to schedule these unless it is critical to the customer’s business. The customer should identify appropriate ESUs to apply. Allari will not apply an ESU unless the customer approves the ESU to be applied to the software. ESUs require testing by an employee of the customer. Allari will only move the ESU into production after the customer approves this action. In some cases, an ESU affects development objects. In this case, a developer would need to be engaged by the customer to perform proper retrofits. Testing retrofitted objects is the responsibility of the customer. Allari can provide developer and testing services on a time and material basis.

11. Environments Refreshing

Record copies are important to maintaining a proper testing cycle in all environments. Environments should be refreshed using production data on a periodic (quarterly) basis so that testing can be performed using relatively up-to-date data. Allari will work with the customer to prepare a schedule for refreshing of environments and will be responsible for refreshing the environments according to the agreed upon schedule. Allari will notify the customer of an impending refresh to ensure that no critical testing is occurring in the environment being refreshed.

12. Package Management & Planning

A well defined naming convention is critical to proper package management. It’s also important to have a good package archiving strategy in place, as packages can use up large amounts of valuable disk space. We can also implement a package build schedule that dictate how often a new full package is built, depending upon how long and how many updates since the last full.

13. Object Management & Promotion

Object transfer is necessary to promote objects through the various steps in the development lifecycle. The customer is responsible for identifying any objects, versions, etc. which need to be transferred and notifying Allari of such via the Change Transfer Document.

14. Object Configuration Management

This is truly the nerve center of EnterpriseOne, which controls where data-sources point and where logic will be processed. In order to maintain software performance, Allari checks and updates Object Configuration Mappings according to the customer’s architecture.

15. Environment Management

Proper Environment Management is important to ensure package builds are performed efficiently. Typically, objects are resident on the system, which are not needed. Allari will track the creation and deletion of objects in order to maintain timely package build times.

16. Pathcode Management

Allari will refresh corrupted specifications as needed, by rebuilding packages and/or deploying packages to workstations. In addition, due to upgrades, pathcodes resident on the deployment server might require additional hard disk space. Allari’s CNC technician will coordinate with the customer’s designated internal staff to ensure additional hardware requirements are met.

17. Print Queue & Submitted Jobs

Proper maintenance and configuration of job queues including creation of new queues to enable better processing is important to maintaining a well running system. In addition, the Submitted jobs queue can become populated by a large amount of files rather quickly, which can lead to performance degradation. Allari will monitor the job queues for performance, as well as the amount and size of the files contained in the Submitted Jobs queue. Allari will also work with the customer to prepare a schedule for clearing the Submitted Jobs queue. Once prepared, Allari will be responsible to maintaining the Submitted Jobs Queue according to the agreed upon schedule.

18. Web Server Install/Upgrade & Configuration

Whether you are using IBM WebSphere or Oracle Application Server, Allari can handle any upgrade or install or your web servers. Looking into installing multiple servers and enabling high availability, we can do that too.

19. User Security Administration

User security is critical to maintaining system stability, functionality and performance, as well as accurate business data. Allari will be responsible for managing user security to databases as well as any shared network resources (folders). Allari will work with a customer-designated representative to configure proper user security and ensure system performance, functionality, and stability at all times.

20. Application Security

Application security is of monumental importance to system stability and functionality. Allari will work closely with the customer’s functional team to identify and maintain proper application security configuration. The customer is responsible for specifying the requirements for application security. In turn, Allari will be responsible for implementing the application security configuration as specified by the customer.

21. Third Party Applications

Be it Vertex, Tidal Scheduler or any other EnterpriseOne certified application; we can take care of it for you.

22. System Documentation

Allari will document the system’s architecture, environment types, pathcodes, datasources, back up strategy for infrastructure failures, backup strategy for functional failures, details regarding file servers, windows terminal servers, web servers fat clients, Windows security, database security, media objects and other important system definitions regarding J.D. Edwards and update the documentation as changes occur.
